Annual Labor Day Celebration: Meeteetse
FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2019 – MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2019
Meeteetse has been celebrating the same multiple day event for 100+ years. The event started originally by Josh Dean with a steer roasting in a large pit and a time for neighbors who may not have seen each other all summer to get together. Ranch work left (and still does) little time to go visiting so it was reserved for those times when at least most of the chores were done. The end of summer is one of those times; the hay is in and it’s not yet branding and sorting time. Over Labor Day weekend, rodeos, street games, food and entertainment liven up this small ranching community just 30 miles south of Cody.
Labor Day Events at the Meeteetse Museums Annual Chatelaine Quilt Guild Show (August 31 – September 2) This exhibit features beautiful and innovative textiles created by local quilters from the Chatelaine Quilt Guild. The show includes three dimensional, as well as orthodox, pieces. Admission is free.
Book Signing at the Meeteetse Museums (author to be announced at a later date), September 2 (9 – 5)

This is a big deal….it is the Finale of the 4th season of the Big Horn Rodeo Circuit! So much work has been done this year for the BHRC and we intend to celebrate the outcome! Labor Day Rodeo in Meeteetse is a tradition of over 100 years and we love to finish off the weekend with our traditional rodeo. All events will be represented, with slack in the morning beginning at 9am. Make sure to enter your event through this website or the call in at 307-868-2454 on August 24th.
Frisbee Toss is also happening again this year. Denny Menholt will again host this event. You can purchase your chance just past the admission gate. You can also purchase your ducks at that time.
