We are a small, well-established, family oriented, mountain lodge known for its unique, quiet, peaceful, breathtaking views, wildlife, and relaxed atmosphere.
Elephant Head Lodge is a small log-cabin mountain resort located just 11.7 miles East of Yellowstone National Park on the Shoshone National Forest, and located 40 miles west of Cody, WY. We are known for its breathtaking views and wildlife, away from the crowds, and relaxed atmosphere. Guests average 3.5 nights per stay. Our lodge contains the office, family room, and lounge/bar, plus we have a playground with swings, slide, and fort, as well as horseshoe pits. In the family room, we have games/activities to play/do (chess, checkers, cards, coloring, board games, etc.) that can be played there with your group or other guests, or checked out and taken to your cabin to play/do. We help guests arrange tours, hiking, horseback rides, blue ribbon trout fishing within walking distance, river rafting trips, guided tours, rodeo tickets, planning day-trips or scenic drives, and other area events/activities with that true western hospitality - the Wyoming way. Our lodge is a wonderful base for the guests touring Yellowstone National Park, Cody, Park County, & the Shoshone National Forest. We hope to become your home away from home, with that much needed vacation from modern technology and the fast-paced life-style at home, and a place to enjoy peace, quiet, and nature. Activities and Western Fun
Experience high mountain peaks, pristine mountain lakes, bison, elk, moose, bear, and other various wildlife, wildflowers, and birds. Teddy Roosevelt referred to the area from the Park’s East entrance to Cody as “the most scenic 50 miles in America”. The valley was shaped by the Shoshone River as it flowed out of Yellowstone National Park and is cradled by the strikingly beautiful volcanic rocks of the Absaroka Mountains.

Schedule your next family reunion in the beauty of East Yellowstone. Enjoy days trips to Yellowstone or excursions to the Cody Nite Rodeo or the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Take a trail ride with your sibling you haven’t see in years. Go river rafting with your kids. Sing around the campfire with your grandkids, family, or friends. Hiking
Experience the birds chirping, animal tracks, observing wildlife, babbling brooks, blue skies, fresh air, air movement on your skin, and peacefulness. Several hiking options are available around the lodge, using nearby trailheads with trails on the Shoshone National Forest and in Yellowstone National Park, and in neighboring other areas in Park County.
Fishing
Trout Fishing in the East Yellowstone area is known for it’s large cutthroats, rainbows, and brook trout. There are many streams that feed into the North Fork of the Shoshone…and are open to fly fishing, bait fishing & spin fishing.
Horseback Riding
We can help you arrange horseback riding, trail rides, pack trips, cookouts and campfires, for a deep rich western tradition that your family can enjoy. Views in the Shoshone National Forest and Yellowstone National Park are absolutely breath-taking.
